China's island province, Myanmar is linked by new air route A new non-stop air route is scheduled to launch on Tuesday between Myanmar’s Rangoon and capital of south China’s Hainan Province, Haikou. It will be the second direct flight linking Myanmar with Hainan. Three wound trips are scheduled every week and the route will be operated by Jiuyuan Airline of China. On every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at Beijing Time 11:00 pm, the outbound flight AQ1133 will depart from Haikou Meilan International Airport and is scheduled to make landing in Rangoon at 00:35 am according to the local time of the day. Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the inbound flight AQ1134 will depart from Rangoon at 01:35 am local time and make a landing at 06:00 am Beijing time. The marketing director of Jiuyuan Airlines Qiu Jianming said that in October 2018, company started its flight operations to Myanmar by opening three direct air routes and connected Guiyang, Changsha and Guangzhou with Myanmar. Further he stated: “Myanmar is an important country participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. We value the market of Myanmar.” In June 2019, a direct route was established and linked Myanmar’s Mandalay with Haikou. An official of the provincial department of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports Fu Fenghua said: “The new air route will further boost the exchanges and cooperation between Hainan and Myanmar, and increase mutual visitors, which will be of great significance to Hainan’s tourism.” Fu also added: “We will continue to promote Hainan’s tourism in Myanmar this year and also would invite Myanmar’s travel agencies and media to Hainan for field trips.” The statistics from the provincial department of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports revealed that in the first 11 months of last year, more than 122.3 percent year on year, Myanmar received around 1,087 tourists. By 2025, China plans to set up Hainan into an international tourism and consumption center and also plans that by 2035, this area become globally influential tourism and consumption destination for tourists.
